Additionally, he serves as Group/activity Therapist at Arbour Hospital in Boston/Quincy, MA. Prior to that he has served in different positions including nearly five years as Co-occurring Substance Use /Mental Health Clinician, and Program Manager at Casa Esperanza, Inc., in Boston, MA. During his practice, he has developed robust individual and group counseling skills using psychosocial and evidence-based intervention non-limited to the following: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT, IDDT, MI, and Relapse Prevention. These interventions allow him to assess his client’s needs while engaging them to sustain their long-term recovery.
As an experienced provider with a solid foreign medical degree, he has served under different umbrellas including Medical Doctor and Project Manager. For eight years, he worked in Haiti and the Dominican Republic for the Haitian Ministry of Public Health, Batey Relief Alliance, and Partners in Health. After he moved to the US, the same passion to continue serving high risk individuals has driven him to engage in mitigating the morbidity and mortality of the impact of opioid’s epidemic. He is an excellent group facilitator who integrate harm reduction, trauma-informed language and a person-centered care approach plus his deep cross-cultural competence so that he meets everyone where they are at the moment. These experiences enhance his abilities to help people improve their emotional, social, and mental well-being.
Widner is also an active member of NAADAC (National Association for Addictions Counselors), and Psychology Today. These associations have helped him remain adept in the field. In addition, his fluency in English, Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole, enhance his capability to communicate effectively to individuals with diverse backgrounds.
